Emergence
A phenomenon in which small units fit together that make a bigger system with properties that the smaller units don't possess. E.g.:
- Fundamental building block of life (i.e. proteins) themselves aren't alive, but cells which are basically made of proteins are alive. Kurzgesagt - The Most Complex Language in the World
The whole is more than the sum of its parts.
