Pygmalion Effect
aka Rosenthal Effect
- An effect in which high expection leads to better performance.
- An effect where out expections about others lead to actions that enforces those expectation.
And the converse is also true: low expectations leads to poorer performance.
When you expect better things from someone.
You show positive action.
Your action impacts theirs beliefs about themselves.
Their beliefs about themselves affects their action.
Which reinforces you expectation/beliefs about them.
Is there a way to prevent ourselves from being negatively influenced by others?
